Duane Solomon burst on to the international scene in 2012, finishing 4th in the 800 meters at the Olympic Games and running the second fastest time in American history at 1:42.82. Duane’s breakthrough came in the US Trials where he achieved the “A” standard and hung on to 3rd to qualify for the Games in one of the most exciting events of the trials. Duane displayed potential for his success over the previous 4 seasons, being one of the top 800 meter men in the US. In 2007 he qualified for his first World championship team, and he followed that up with US Indoor titles in 2011 and 2012. In 2013 he broke a 26 year old US record in the 600 meters.
A 2008 graduate of USC, Duane has remained in the Los Angeles area where he is coached by American 800 meter record holder Johnny Gray. Duane is interested in the music industry when his running days are behind him, but those days look far off as Duane has risen to the top of the sport.
