Ben True burst onto the US distance scene in 2011 winning the USA road Circuit championship and capturing 2 national titles. (5KM, 10KM) One reason 2011 became a banner year was because it was the first full year Ben dedicated 100% of his efforts to running. While at Dartmouth College, Ben was an All-American nordic skier and helped the Big Green take home the national title in 2007. The signs for success and the track and roads were evident prior to Dartmouth though, as he was a two time top ten finisher at the prestigious Foot Locker national high school cross country championships.
In 2012 Ben refocused efforts on the track, and although he had achieved the Olympic "A" standard at 10,000 meters an untimely case of Lyme disease limited him at the US Trials, where he finished 9th in the 10,000 meters, and 6th at 5,000 meters. The sky is the limit for this 27 year old, who is competing in his second world XC championship race in 2013, an event he was the top US finisher at in 2011.
Growing up in New England, Ben didn’t limit his sports enthusiasm to winter sports, he’s also an avid NASCAR fan. Following his theme of success in everything he tries, Ben finished with a top 50 world ranking in fantasy NASCAR in 2007. He considers the feat as noble as anything he accomplished in his personal athletic career.
